I don't think any parent needs to get to this level for the kids to have fun. The Semi Pro level probably is more about you the parent as it is about your kids having fun. I say that because the time commitment really starts to grow at this level. Additionally, the financial investment really goes up at this point as well. Lastly, this audience gets larger, make sure your kids have enough friends to invite to make it work. If your kids are really love dancing around and you love picking music and the party itself though, you might think about this level.

A DJ Mixer is very helpful here to allow you to start blending tracks. You will also need to think about some kind of a music subscription or purchasing music. One of the things I've thought about here is pre-mixing 2-4 songs together that flow well. Rekord box allows you to setup mix points on songs to automate this. This frees you up to do something other than just mixing music.
